data empowerment fund | 2024

In August 2024, we were selected along with 7 other recipients of the Data Empowerment Fund.

Our project Data4Mods – Content Moderators’ Collective Power through Data, in collaboration with the African Content Moderators Union (ACMU) aims to create a database of international companies that outsource work to Kenya, contribute to the exercise of data access rights and analysis, establish reports, based on personal data.

In October 2023, we received, in collaboration with the cooperative MAZE, one of the prizes awarded at the Sitra’s Data Collectives Ideation Contest, rewarding ideas that use data to make everyday life easier in inventive and equitable ways.

In May 2023, we received the European Union Prize for Citizen Science Honorable mention with MAZE and Brahim BEN ALI – awarded by Ars Electronica – for a new mobility service in France by drivers, including better social rights for gig workers and a new data governance model.

The MyData award we received in 2023 refers to an innovative way of managing personal data that offers individuals greater control and autonomy over their personal data. This process makes individuals responsible for their data and allows them to decide how it is collected, used, and shared.

In March 2023, we received the award Future of Data Challenge from Omidyar Network. This is a digital literacy art project via digipower.academy where youth re-imagine the future of data, in partnership with the artist Ariane Loze and Hestia.ai.
